We have at least one, likely two, postdoctoral researcher posts available to work on projects relating to use of short activating RNA as therapeutics for diseases affecting different structures within the eye. These posts are an exciting collaboration between ourselves in the Dept of Eye and Vision Science at the University of Liverpool, research active clinicians at St Paul’s Eye Unit, Liverpool, MiNA Therapeutics a SME that is world-leaders in saRNA technology, and with internationals collaborators at the University of Ulster and at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Both posts are short-term (6 months) in the first instance, with plans in place to extend these projects as we progress down the translational pipeline. Our hope is the person(s) employed here would be able to continue with the project(s) contingent on project success.
These are exciting projects and present a legitimate opportunity to go from bench to bedside.
We are looking for people who are available to start very soon, who will bring established skills in core molecular biology skills including cell culture, transfection and oligonucleotide delivery, RT-qPCR, luciferase assays, western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry.
Working with eye model systems such as ex vivo culture and in vivo models would be beneficial.
The “standard” person specs of excellent time management, organisational, record keeping, and communication skills are all essential (as always). However, these points are even more relevant here as we will be working with patentable material.
The appointed person will be based at the University of Liverpool in the William Henry Duncan Building, a ~4 year old custom-designed research facility with well-appointed lab space.
